Osborne County Community Foundation is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative designed to engage and empower the next generation: the OCCF Youth Council.

This new program is a leadership and service opportunity for high school students across Osborne County, focused on building a lifelong spirit of philanthropy while giving students a meaningful role in shaping their communities.
Building Skills That Last a Lifetime
Youth Council members will have the opportunity to:
Learn about philanthropy, volunteerism and the role of community foundations
Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Build a strong sense of community pride and responsibility
The council will also plan and carry out a community-based project —giving students the chance to turn ideas into action.
What to Expect
The program will officially launch with an orientation day during summer 2026, giving members the opportunity to connect, learn about OCCF, and set goals for the year ahead.
Throughout the school year, members will participate in monthly meetings (September, October, November and January, February, March), with a focus on leadership development, philanthropy education, and community engagement.
Youth Council members will also take part in OCCF Impact Day in September, Match Month in February, and play an active role in planning and volunteering for their annual project.
In addition, students will serve as ambassadors for OCCF—sharing the foundation’s mission and impact within their schools and communities. They will have the opportunity to represent OCCF at a number of community events throughout the year.
Who Can Apply
Students entering grades 9–11 in the 2026–2027 school year are eligible to apply. Applicants must attend school within Osborne County (USD 392, USD 272, USD 399, or homeschool) and demonstrate an interest in leadership, service and community involvement.
To ensure strong representation across the county, up to two students will be selected from each community: Osborne, Downs, Alton, Portis, and Natoma.
Application Process
OCCF will be visiting schools in April to introduce the program and encourage applications. The online application period will open until May 1, 2026, followed by interviews in May. Final selections will be announced later in May.

Looking Ahead
The OCCF Youth Council represents an investment in the future of Osborne County. By equipping young people with the tools, knowledge and opportunities to lead, serve and give back, this initiative will help build a stronger, more connected community for years to come.
Students interested in making an impact—and growing as leaders—are encouraged to apply and be part of this exciting new chapter.
